Registration in a Second Language Course (ESL and FLS)

The English second language courses (ESL) and the French second language courses (FLS, Français langue seconde) are meant to help you improve your language skills. The courses are offered from a beginner level to an advanced level.

Registration Procedures

I have not completed a language test or ESL/FLS course at the University of Ottawa

  1. Complete the Online Placement Test
  2. Registration Procedures
    • Undergraduate Students
      One business day following your test, you may register for the appropriate course with Rabaska.
    • Graduate and Postdoctoral Students
      Bring a printed copy of your results to your department to register for the appropriate course.
    • Non-Admitted Students (Special Students)
      Bring a printed copy of your results letter to InfoService (75 Laurier Ave East) to register for the appropriate course.

I have previously completed a uOttawa placement test or admissions test (e.g. Immersion Admission)

  1. Identify the course or courses you are eligible to register for based on your test result.  This information was included on the test results page.
  2. Registration procedure
    • Undergraduate Students
      You are able to register for the appropriate language course using Rabaska.
    • Graduate and Postdoctoral Students
      Bring a printed copy of your results letter to you department to register for the appropriate course.
    • Non-Admitted Students (Special Students)
      Bring a printed copy of your results letter to InfoService (75 Laurier Ave East) to register for the appropriate course.
