Born in Italy, I also lived in France before settling down in Canada where I pursued and completed my academic training.

I have been teaching FSL to various groups of students since 1986 and with OLBI since 2003. . I have also worked as a free-lance translator for the Federal Translation Bureau, accepted contracts in linguistic evaluation development programs with the Public Service Commission’s, and have been an external evaluator (Italian) for the of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade’s language-training service and the Canadian Forces’ language school. My interest and experience in language teaching also include a long-standing commitment to teaching Italian as a foreign language to high school and adult students (1986 to 2008).

My M.A. thesis in Language Teaching and Learning looked at the potential for improving grammatical competency in FSL through the use of literary excerpts. This, along with the development of teaching activities focusing on vocabulary learning, is part of my research interests, which also include various other directions.

After many years of teaching Italian as an International Language in the Ontario school system, I have initiated a study on the analysis of the development of international languages and multilingual issues in Canada.

Through the Students Academic Success Services of the University of Ottawa, I am participating in a study of the research outcomes of offering FLS students the possibility of integrating an experiential learning dimension to their courses.

Since 2008, in the context of a collaboration between our institute (OLBI) and the professional teachers organization (CASLT, I have coordinated a Summer university program for FLS teachers across Canada. As a member of the Ontario College of Teachers, professional deveelopment opportunities are of particular interest as part of my contribution to the community life.

I am also very enthusiastic about the new immersion courses offered by the SLI/OLBI and wish to contribute effectively to the development of programs which incorporate the latest content and form-based research trends in order to meet students’ needs.
